Matsushita to Hike DSC Component Production Capacity

Japan's Matsushita is expected to soon announce an investment of approximately 100 billion Yen (US$912.9 million; US$1 = 109.5 Yen) in increasing the company's output of CCD (Charge-Coupled Device), a key component used in DSC (Digital Still Cameras), according to a Bloomberg report.

The investment is projected to be injected into the construction of a new production line at Matsushita's Tonami plant in Toyama Prefecture. Implementation of the project is expected to start in the second quarter of 2008 at the soonest, according to Xinhua News.
